Background

I am a big fan of oneliners and standup comedy in general. For a while I wanted to write a standup joke and create it in animation. Inspired by the great work of Blink My Brain and the humor of Monty Python, I stylized it with cutout, choppy with collage elements.

  • Used a combination of stock photos (woman’s face, apartment)

  • Midjourney AI (My partment, mermaid body, Mermaid sunglasses, guest’s fish head and turtle head, T-shirts)

  • Unsplash photos (The two party guests) plus Midjourney for their faces

  • My own photos for the jellyfish on the T-shirt

  • Shutterstock for the woman’s face

  • D-ID app to generate the woman’s speech (“Please bring something sea Related”)

  • Loopflow for the jellyfish motion on the shirt

  • Rubberhose 3 as well as other rigging techniques to rig the mermaid
